The intra-European flight offer in January 2014 attracted more than 11.4 percent more passengers compared with the same month last year. 6.6% more passengers were welcomed on board Brussels Airlines flights to Africa. The capacity growth (a result of the launch of a new transatlantic service to Washington last June) resulted in a growth of 62.4% on the transatlantic network. The total network attracted more than 43,000 additional passengers.
The strong start in 2014 also resulted in an increase in seat load factor and freight (30.7% more Freight-ton kilometers).
In addition to this scheduled flight activity, Brussels Airlines operated many holiday flights for tour operators. Passenger figures for this charter activity are not included in the monthly figures of this press release.
