Brussels Airlines achieves record results in summer
Strong results driven by increased capacity and stable operations

Brussels, November 3, 2026 – Brussels Airlines reports an adjusted EBIT of 84 million euro for the third quarter of 2026, a record result. More capacity and stable operations are the main driver of these positive numbers. The Belgian carrier expects a positive development also for the fourth quarter, however challenges with regards to geopolitical instability and high fuel costs remain.
From July till September, Brussels Airlines welcomed 2.9 million passengers on over 20,000 flights, a growth of 3.5% and 1.7% respectively. The airline was able to run stable operations, leading to 14% less irregularity costs per passenger. The combination of increased capacity and more reliable operations led to a record result. With an adjusted EBIT of 84 million euro, the airline improved 23.5% compared to last year, and 6% compared to the previous record quarter in 2024.
“For an airline, Summer is the busiest time of year. Where many people travel to enjoy a well-deserved vacation, our colleagues put their best foot forward to make sure our passengers can sit back and relax. I want to sincerely thank all Brussels Airlines employees for their efforts in the past few months. We have once again proven that when we operate as planned, the results are also there. Brussels Airlines is a robust airline that can deliver strong results, even in a challenging environment.”
- Nina Öwerdieck, Chief Financial Officer, Brussels Airlines

Other highlights during the third quarter were the yearly Tomorrowland party flights, the addition of Cologne (Germany) to the network thanks to the cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, and the introduction of a new signature aperitif in Business Class.
Cautiousness remains
2026 was marked by a challenging start, with geopolitical instability resulting in high fuel prices. Brussels Airlines was also impacted by an Ebola outbreak in East Africa and by social unrest in Belgium, leading to strikes at third parties. This led to a negative result for the first six months of 2026.
Due to the record results in the third quarter, Brussels Airlines reports positive year-to-date figures, even though many of the uncertain factors remain in place. At the start of the fourth quarter, Brussels Airlines was once again impacted by an external strike, leading to several canceled flights and a financial burden for the airline – however demand remains robust which is positive.
With the ongoing headwind from additional fuel cost, the airline maintains its various cost-optimizing measures. However, strategic investments in its product remain on track; such as the roll-out of Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi across the fleet, a full renovation of the flagship lounge in Brussels and the planned introduction of new cabin interiors.
