Brussels Airlines and LAT Open New Training Center near Brussels Airport

More modern and more efficient training will enhance safety and comfort even more

Brussels, October 8, 2024 - The Lufthansa Aviation Training Group (LAT) officially opened its new training center in Brussels today. Located near Brussels Airport, the center will be available to both Brussels Airlines’ and external LAT customers, enhancing training opportunities for flight crews at the Belgian capital’s airport.

The center features a variety of state-of-the-art training devices for conducting safety and service training to the highest standards. Facilities include a state-of-the-art A320 cabin mockup, several door trainers for the Airbus A320 and A330, as well as for the Boeing 737 and 787. Additional equipment comprises a slide tower for narrow- and wide-body aircraft and a next-generation Real Fire Fighting Trainer outside the training center. A Virtual Reality area is also part of the training setup.

Brussels Airlines crews will particularly benefit from this new opening, as it will allow them to avoid long travel distances to other training locations. This will not only save costs but also lead to more efficient scheduling.

Over 60 invited guests attended the grand opening to tour the modern training facilities and network with industry colleagues. A highlight of the event was the opportunity for guests to experience LAT’s latest virtual reality training programs using VR headsets in the LAT XR-Buzz.

"We are very pleased to officially open the latest LAT training center in Brussels today. It will contribute significantly to enhancing training opportunities for our flying colleagues at Brussels Airlines. This is not only an important step in the further expansion of LAT but also underscores our expertise in providing high-quality training solutions for Lufthansa Group airlines and the external customer market."
- Matthias Spohr, CEO, Lufthansa Aviation Training
"At Brussels Airlines, our ambitions are clear and bold: we strive to be the carrier of choice for our customers and a leading employer in Belgium. The modernized training center supports these goals. Located near Brussels Airport, it offers our staff superior training facilities, enhancing both their working conditions and professional development.
