Brussels Airlines welcomed 81,846 more passengers in August

This August Brussels Airlines welcomed 11% more passengers compared to the same month last year. Both the European, African and North Atlantic markets recorded good growth rates. The seat load factor increased by 2.8 percentage points to 85%.

825,157 passengers boarded the 6,810 scheduled flights carried out by Brussels Airlines last month. That is 81,846 more than in August 2016. The number of passengers traveling on a European flight grew by 10.5% to 662,869. The African flights recorded a growth of 5.9%, the North American flights 8.7%. The Tel Aviv route showed a growth of 11,2%.

The passenger growth also led to a significant increase of the seat load factor (+2.8 percentage points). 85% of all seats offered by Brussels Airlines in August were sold.

The freight volumes transported in the belly of Brussels Airlines’ passenger flights also increased in August. The cargo load factor increased by 9 percentage points and the Revenue Ton Kilometers increased by 16.1%

These statistics do not include the passengers on board of the many charter flights Brussels Airlines operates on behalf of tour operators.
