Industrial actions security staff at Brussels Airport: heavy flight disruptions on October 1

Brussels, September 20, 2024 - A national manifestation organized by the unions of security workers in Belgium will take place on October 1. Consequently, capacity at the security screenings at Brussels Airport will be reduced. The airport has requested all the airlines to review their schedules accordingly. Brussels Airlines has therefore taken the difficult decision to cancel most of its flights on October 1. Passengers will be informed and rebooked as soon as possible.

Passengers whose flight is cancelled will be contacted by Brussels Airlines. The airline will offer an alternative flight schedule and will do its utmost to get everyone on their destination with the least possible delay. This can be a flight on an earlier departure date, a later date or the same day via another hub of Lufthansa Group.

The concerned passengers of whom Brussels Airlines has contact details, will get a proposal for an alternative flight via mail and can accept this alternative with one simple click. The airline therefore encourages its passengers to check their contact details in ‘My Booking’ on its website. On that same page, passengers can also check the status of their reservation. They can also get information via the chat assistant or via their travel agent.

Brussels Airlines has reinforced its Service Centres today to have maximum capacity to help passengers needing further assistance. However, considering the many rebookings that have to be done, waiting times might be longer than usual.

Brussels Airlines thanks all its concerned passengers for their patience and understanding.

Brussels Airlines apologizes to everyone who sees their travel plans disrupted by this industrial actions and thanks all its staff members for their tremendous efforts in finding solutions for all its passengers.
