Peter Gerber resigns as CEO and Christina Foerster appointed ad-interim CEO

Brussels - Tuesday, January 31, 2023 - Peter Gerber, currently CEO of Brussels Airlines, will step down from his post today, and leave the Lufthansa Group. Christina Foerster, member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, will take over the airline's leadership on an interim basis.

Peter Gerber, currently CEO of Brussels Airlines, will step down from his post today, and leave the Lufthansa Group. Peter has led the Belgian airline since March 1, 2021, in addition to holding the newly created position of Lufthansa Group Chief Representative for European Affairs.

Christina Foerster, member of the Lufthansa Group Executive Board, will take over the airline's leadership on an interim basis. Christina Foerster knows Brussels Airlines well, having served there as Chief Commercial Officer from 2016 and as CEO between 2018 and 2020. A long-term successor for Peter Gerber is to be found as soon as possible.

Peter Gerber began his career with the Lufthansa Group in 1992, and from 1997 onwards was responsible for the area of Group Accounting, Fees and Charges. Between 2001 and 2004, Gerber was the project manager responsible for the group-wide "D-Check" program to safeguard earnings. Following that position he took over responsibilities in the areas of collective bargaining policy and social security of the Lufthansa Group. This period spanned five years between 2004 and 2009. In June 2009, Gerber was appointed to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG and was responsible for Finance and Human Resources. In June 2012 Gerber moved to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Passage Airlines and was responsible for Human Resources, IT & Services. Since May 2014, Peter Gerber has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG.
