New additions to winter timetable: Alicante and Washington

Brussels Airlines adds two newcomers on their winter timetable, Washington and Alicante. The flight frequencies and flight days of several destinations are further optimized.

Washington, a destinations that was added to the Brussels Airlines network in June this year, is the most important addition to the upcoming winter schedule. The departure from Brussels is scheduled in the afternoon and the flight leaves the American capital late in the evening. Since the launch of the route, thousands of passengers have used the scheduled service to travel to the American capital or to connect to other destinations in the US or Canada, thanks to the flight offer of other Star Alliance airlines. In addition to New York, a destination which the airline serves daily, Washington is the second US destination of Brussels Airlines.

In the European flight offer of, Alicante is the most important novelty. Starting this winter season the Belgian airline flies twice weekly to the South-Spanish  destination that is the entry port to the popular and sunny Costa Blanca. Flight days are Wednesday and Saturday with departure in Brussels in the early afternoon and return flights in the late afternoon. Tickets start at only 99 euro, taxes included. Alicante is the fifth Brussels Airlines destinations in Spain, next to Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Malaga.

Frequencies

In the winter program, which starts on 27 October, Brussels Airlines also optimizes its offer. Like other years, some typical summer destinations are not operated in the winter. Some other routes get more frequencies. Brussels-Edinburg for example will be flown two times daily instead of one time. The flight offer to Cameroun has also also expanded. The harbor city of Douala will be served daily during the winter peak and Yaounde will be served 6 times per week. The flight days to Nairobi are harmonized with those of partner SWISS. This complementary flight schedule offers more flexibility to the passengers of both airlines.

Fleet

This winter season Brussels Airlines operates 44 aircraft: 8 Airbus A 330-200/300 (long haul aircraft), 19 Airbus A319/320, 12 Avro RJ and 5 Dash 8 Q400. All long haul aircraft have been refurbished with new Economy and Business Class cabins with flat beds in Business Class, ergonomic Economy Class seats and the newest generation in-flight entertainment.
