Sweet Coffee sings for 5 million Brussels Airlines passengers

Another first for Brussels Airlines! The carrier with a reputation for innovation has now launched its very own album of songs specifically recorded as in-flight music and signature tunes. The Belgian band Sweet Coffee, whose lead singer has been a stewardess with Brussels Airlines for years, composed and recorded the music that you can already hear on board.

Brussels Airlines, well known for the quality and friendliness of its service, has a long tradition of involving its staff in publicity campaigns and promotional events. So it comes as no surprise that the company has invited the group Sweet Coffee - whose lead singer Bérangère Diabokua is a purser on board Brussels Airlines’ flights - to record the album dedicated to the pleasure of the airline’s passengers.

Bérangère – Bibi to her friends – joined Patrick Bruyndonx and Raffaele Bresica in Sweet Coffee in 2004, and the band’s profile and sound – a Belgian/European/African mix - is the perfect complement to Brussels Airlines’ trans-cultural identity. Bibi herself sings with a warm persuasiveness that amply illustrates her belgo-congolese origins.

The new album is called ‘Flying Your Way’ and is composed of 12 newly recorded tracks. The overall lounge feel of the music – highlighted with accents of pop, soul and jazz – is a veritable dream-maker, playing on the ideas of freedom, departure and just feeling good. Amongst the 12 tracks, several are specifically dedicated to Brussels Airlines and its passengers and destinations, with titles such as ‘Around the world’ and ‘Flying your way’. Others such as ‘Leave a key’ and Born to fly’ are clearly inspired by Bibi’s profession.

Specifically dedicated for Brussels Airlines passengers, the album will therefore not be released for general sale. However, passengers can enjoy "Flying your way" on board Brussels Airlines flights during boarding, before takeoff and after landing. Plus, for an album of such merit, a limited edition has been pressed and will be offered to the airline’s key customers and partners as a small reminder of the pleasure of flying your way.

The track n°12 "Flying your way"  is now downloadable on the corporate website: Click here
