Belgian Red Devils take off to Seattle with Brussels Airlines

Cheered on by employees of the Belgian airline

Brussels, June 8, 2026 – The Belgian Red Devils departed for the FIFA World Cup aboard Brussels Airlines. Flight SN1153 took off from Brussels Airport at 1:40 p.m. local time. Upon boarding, the Belgian national football team was welcomed by dozens of enthusiastic employees, who cheered on the Red Devils as they set off to bring home the World Cup. Shortly after departure, Brussels Airlines had another surprise in store for the players.

In exactly one week, the Belgian Red Devils will play their first match of the FIFA World Cup. Their opening game will be against Egypt at Lumen Field in Seattle.

To transport the team to their destination, Brussels Airlines operated a special charter flight. Upon boarding, Brussels Airlines employees formed a cheerful guard of honor, helping to send the Red Devils off in style.

After take-off, the players were treated to one final farewell message from their supporters back home. In the lead-up to the World Cup, Brussels Airlines launched a social media campaign inviting fans to submit the perfect goodbye message. The winning message was painted in a field near Brussels Airport, allowing the team to see it from the air as they departed.
