Brussels Airlines sees an increase of 9.5 percent in its passenger numbers for February 2011
In the month of February, Brussels Airlines welcomed 9.5 percent more passengers. Compared to February 2010, an extra 31,000 customers flew to one of the 70 destinations offered by Brussels Airlines.
In total 357,821 passengers chose Brussels Airlines in the month of February 2011. This equals an increase of 9.5 percent versus February 2010, when the airline counted 326,690 customers on its European and African network combined.
This growth is due mainly to an attractive pricing policy, a slight seat capacity increase, new African destinations that were not offered in February last year and the continuing economic recovery.
Brussels Airlines also registered a strong increase in the number of passengers transferring at Brussels Airport. This transfer activity went up by more than 20 percent.
This increase fits well with Brussels Airlines’ ambition to further develop its home base at Brussels Airport into a hub within the Lufthansa Group and the Star Alliance network.
Passenger traffic in Europe registered an increase of 8.7 percent and the number of passengers travelling with Brussels Airlines to and from Africa grew by 15.6 percent in February.
