Brussels Airlines invests in improved on-board product for all passengers

Premium Economy gets the biggest upgrades, but enhancements are coming across cabins both on short-haul and long-haul flights

Brussels, February 23, 2026 - Brussels Airlines will enhance the passenger experience in its different booking classes, both on short-haul and long-haul flights. The biggest investment goes to Premium Economy on long-haul flights, with improved tableware and more meal options and an improved service flow, but other booking classes will see improvements too.

Brussels Airlines is on a journey to improve its passenger experience. The airline already announced a full renovation of THE LOFT, the award-winning lounge in Brussels, as well as free Wi-Fi for all passengers and brand-new cabins on the long-haul fleet.

In parallel, Brussels Airlines is enhancing its soft product: Business Class flights departing from Brussels now offer a unique culinary experience crafted by double Michelin-starred chef Glen Verhasselt, showcasing the best of Belgian cuisine. Since this year, flights departing from our African destinations feature African-inspired dishes, all served on redesigned, modern, and premium tableware.

Elevated Premium Economy

Eye-catcher of the next round of improvements is the elevated Premium Economy. Enhancements for this long-haul product include:

  • New tableware, with premium Chinaware, steel cutlery and a premium napkin.
  • Three choices of hot meals during the main meal service
  • Improved pre-landing meals on longer flights
  • An enhanced starter
  • Paper menu cards
  • Improved headphones for the inflight entertainment

All these improvements will be rolled out throughout 2026, with the new tableware debuting as of mid-March.

Improvements in all travel classes, on the entire network

All passengers traveling with Brussels Airlines will notice product improvements in the coming months, including:

  • An extra food component on the main meal tray in Economy Class on long-haul flights
  • Reusable premium cups for alcoholic beverages in Economy Class both on short-haul and long-haul flights
  • Fresh towels and a bottle of water before take-off on short-haul Business Class
  • A curtain divider on short-haul flights between Business Class and Economy Class
“Brussels Airlines is on a journey to overhaul the entire passenger experience. From big and bold investments, like Wi-Fi, new cabins and a renovated lounge, to smaller enhancements like improved menus and tableware: passengers will feel our dedication to their travel experience across all touchpoints. Our aim is to create a boutique hotel in the air and on the ground, and these investments reflect exactly that.”

Brussels Airlines aims to emit 50% less CO₂ by 2030 compared to 2019 and plans to achieve a neutral CO₂ balance by 2050. The airline is participating in the Stargate Project led by Brussels Airport and is therefore part of the testing ground for more sustainable aviation at its home base. In addition, the airline signed the Circular Economy agreement of the Antwerp Management School in 2021. The airline was the first to transport Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through the CEPS-pipeline connecting Brussels Airport early 2023. Since end 2024, Brussels Airlines has welcomed five state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo allowing the airline to significantly lower its CO₂- and noise-emissions on its medium-haul network.

As an ambassador of its country, Brussels Airlines brings the world to Belgium and the best of Belgium to the world, among others through collaborations with Belgian Star Chefs, Belgian culinary products and the Belgian Icons, specially painted aircraft that honour a Belgian iconic person, team or event to promote Belgian culture worldwide.
